Getting into teaching

Gaining School Experience

School experience is vital to candidates looking to enter initial teacher training (ITT), as many ITT providers, School Centred Initial Teacher Training providers (SCITTs) and School Direct lead schools now ask for a minimum amount of experience of working with young people prior to application.

 

For the academic year 2016, the subjects that The Cavendish School will be offering an Experience Programme in are:

Biology
Chemistry
Computing
Design and Technology
Geography
Maths
Languages
Physics

School Direct
(salaried and unsalaried)
Teacher Training Programme 2016-17

The Herts & Bucks Teaching School Alliance are inviting applications for the School Direct teacher training programme starting in September 2016. Applications open through UCAS on October 27th (placements are listed under Parmiter's School).

 

Salaried and unsalaried placements will be available at The Cavendish School, as well as other secondary and primary schools in the Alliance.

 

Places are offered in a range of subjects, including:

 

Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design and Technology, English, Economics, Geography, History, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages, Physical Education, Physics, Psychology and Religious Studies.

 

Primary General placements are available in primary, junior and special schools.
