Year 7

Science: Energy Resources:
Describe the advantages and disadvantages of 3 non-renewable and 5 renewable resources.

English:
1. Research 'public speaking' and write down notes.

2.  Go on www.bbc.co.uk/speaker - Read about the programme and watch speeches.  Write a list of what makes the speeches interesting.
3.  Go on www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks3bitesize/english/

and do the activities.

ICT: Use the internet to find the coldest place in the country, the deepest snow and any other interesting facts about the 'big freeze'. Make note of the websites used.

Modern Languages:

Music: Research and write a short explanation of ‘Reggae Music.’ You should write a minimum of one side of A4 and make sure you include information about the Artists as well as the Music.

Drama:POJ,HUJ and MAI Classes- To research the traditional characters in pantomime and write these down.
Write down the plot of Cinderella

Art:  Find a colourful shell or a picture of a colourful shell from a book/internet and paint it using water colours. Take your time to try to achieve colour tone.  Click here for more details.

Geography:  We will be starting a topic on Japan when you get back. Using an Atlas, internet and parents, design a leaflet that includes where Japan is, what the culture is like and finally what school is like in Japan (you will be surprised how long their day is). Remember L4 description, L5 explanation, L6 explanation in detail.

History:  Research the Black death and produce a handout that explains what is was, how it happened, how it ended.

RS:  Research the charity Christian Aid. Find out how they try to help people and why they do this.

Year 8

Science: Environments:
Research 5 animals and describe their habitats, environments and adaptation.

English
Go on www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks3bitesize/english and revise.

ICT: Prepare content for your website, making sure it's appropriate for audience and purpose. TUT group - continue with website from home through portal.

Modern Languages:

Music: Give a brief description of What an Opera is and include some famous Operas as examples

Drama:
POJ classes - Design a magazine advert for the product you advertised
HUJ Classes – Imagine a kitchen comes to life at night. Write a conversation two appliances may have without any humans hearing. (Personification)

Art: 
1. Find an interesting shaped glass cylindrical, symmetrical object (eg. Wine glass, glass vase, glass tankard, glass bowl)
2. Draw it taking your time with guide lines, shading and tone.

History:  Complete a mini project on witch craft that explains what is was, when it began, when it ended, how witches were caught.

RS:  Research Hanukah the Jewish festival. What are they celebrating? How do they celebrate?

Year 9

Science:  Sam learning revision

English
1.  Read 'The Story of the Tempest' (click here) and write a summary of it.

Music: Write a short explanation of the key elements of Baroque Music

Drama:
POJ- To complete Drama record booklets on Commedia Dell Arte (sheet attached)
MAI- To complete further research on Commedia and the stock characters

1. Collect images of your favourite “things” from magazines/books/the internet/postcards/real life.*DO NOT CHOOSE PEOPLE* instead please select objects. Draw these objects (minimum 3 objects)
2. Try to create a pattern using one or more of these objects. When colouring do NOT choose to use more than four colours.

You have to do a financial breakdown of all your costs. Remember the problem is that you only have £1500 so it’s a budget trip. Please complete in the format of a travel pack.

RS:  Matters of life: Answer the question: what is cloning? What are the advantages and disadvantages? What is the attitude of religious groups on cloning?

Year 11

Science: Revision for exams using SAM Learning

English:  BBC Bitesize and SAM Learning, literature poems

ICT: Wherever possible, check through all of your work on units 1, 2, 4 and 20 using the self assessment sheets provided on the datastore. Make notes of any shortcomings you may have so that you can improve your work when we return to school.

1.  Identify as many different types of injury as possible that can occur when playing sports.
2.  Identify causes of these injuries.
3.  Using examples, explain how sports have tried to reduce the risk of injury with the following:

4.  Choose one sporting activity.  Identify possible risks to participant.  Identify ways to reduce that risk.

STA:  Complete the worksheet on respiration (click here to view).

Art:
1. Finish off any gaps in your Basquait development work (heads and backgrounds)to a high standard including varied materials and techniques.
2. Make sure you have included/layered relevant image research (within your backgrounds) for your choices of global issues
3. Write out your Basquait/global issue research/and development work onto A4 paper ready for presenting as annotation in your sketchbook.
4. Continue to improve/refine/modify any work in Townscapes Project (especially development work)

Using the revision packs sent home, use the light yellow exam paper and answer 3 questions under exam conditions, then use dark yellow mark scheme to check answers. If all is ok move onto new questions, if not use AQA revision notes book to go over knowledge of those topics in detail, re-answer questions using knowledge.

History:  Revise crime and punishment for end of topic exam.

RS:  Matters of death: Answer the question:“Does anyone have the right to end their own life or help to end the life of someone else?” (remember to refer to religious attitudes in your answer).

Year 12

PE BTEC
PEC - Carry out training programme exercise to try to improve fitness.
STA - Health & Safety In Sport:
You need to research (read up and find out about) the following Legislative factors;
• Health & Safety at Work Act (1974)
• Report of Injuries, Diseases & Dangerous Occurrences Regulation (RIDDOR)
• Personal Protective Equipment 2002 (PPE)
• Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
• Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations (1981)
• Manual Handling Operations Regulations (1992)
• Management of Health & Safety Regulations (1999)
• Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sport Act (1987)
• Adventurous Licensing Act
Pick four of them and describe and explain how they influence health & safety in sport.

2.  Read Act 1 - identify key themes; relate to research; bring in written response for next lesson.

History:  Carry on reading Italy book and make notes.
